Jivamukti 2011!

HaPPY NeW YEAR to you!!!

Wow! Is it really 2011?!  According to the Gregorian Calendar, it is so. 2011!

December 31, 2010, I spent the evening at Jivamukti Yoga School in NYC.  Joe and I spent last New Year’s there and enjoyed it so much, we decided to do it again!  To our surprise, it was quite different.

We still participated in a 2 hour master class led by Sharon Gannon and David Life, followed by a scrumptious vegan dinner prepared by the JivamukTEA café…the practice of Mauna , silence began at 9pm and broke with 108 LOKAH SAMASTAH SUKINOH BHAVANTU (May all beings everywhere be happy and free and may the thoughts, words and actions of my own life contribute in some way to that happiness and to that freedom for all.)

This year, after dinner…a Kirtan (call-and-response chanting) was scheduled!  How wonderful!  If you know me personally, you know I am an ardent fan!  I am not always compelled to stand up and move my body during a Kirtan, yet-this night, I could not sit in bliss.  I had to move my energy.  As Srikala Kerel Roach stood and continued to lead the chant, I jumped up and was sent into a moving meditation.  Reggae fusion?  What could be better?  Nadhi Devi and Sangha led the most incredible Kirtan experience (for me) thus far.  I am highly anticipating the day when recordings are available.

Needless to say, my energy was high after moving, dancing and singing for an hour and I had positive vibrations whirling inside…waiting to be explored.  Mauna was perfect. I enjoyed the silence as I wrote for hours in my journal and delved into the depths of memories 2010…

The experience was bliss, yet again 🙂  I highly recommend you attend next year…

we didn't have the best photographer
this year, but I'd like to say it's just
all of the vibrations!

One Response to Jivamukti 2011!

That blur was meant to be. The vibrations in the picture emanate the endearing, hearttelt qualities of the people. Their souls are showing….

Kirtan opens the heart’s natural love (shradda) This releases an extra amount of energy in the spine and one tends to want to get up and dance or something. This experience is postitive on many levels. It releases the best of hormones from the pituitary but more important, it connects you with the moment and hence, the higher power. let go
The words that are chanted are sanskrit and hence, they vibrate your spine and being.

Yes,,,it’s been a good year. Look up and live. My best,,,uncle Jeff
