Krishna Bhakti LIVE KIRTAN!

Bonjour Mes amis!

Lovely news to convey this evening.  Be it not natural disasters, health, nutrition, current updates from planet earth or the like…

Friday, May 28 was a magically divine day in the world of Lana Shea.

I taught my regularly scheduled practice at 6-7.30pm, Friday evening at the Vaikunth Hindu Jain Temple of South Jersey at 571 S. Pomona Road, Pomona, NJ 08240.

LIVE music provided by Steven Groff (Kirtan performer from Philadelphia area) filled the room with vibrations of vocal sounds that resonated within embodying love, tranquility, peace… transcendence…  We sighed and moaned and released and surrendered to the will of the divine-the will of the universe…we sank into the deep oceans of vast non-contemplative bliss of nothingness in the moment of each moment soaring through the skies of liberated souls captivated by the mind’s eye…or? At least I did!

Me learning to play the harmonium while studying at the Yoga Institute in India!

Steven Groff is a devotee of Amma.  Amma is a Hindu spiritual leader and saint and well known for her devotion as a humanitarian http://www.amma.org/.  I, myself, have accepted Amma as my guruji.  Steven has led an Amma Satsang in Philly for the past 8 years.  His daughter is Mira, the wife of David Newman or Durga Das, a celebrated devotional musical artist; they together, travel the world and spread the music of Yoga, Bhakti-devotion.  Check them out here:  http://www.davidnewmanmusic.com/start/01.html

For my Friday class, we practiced Yin-style yoga:

“Yin Yoga targets the connective tissues, such as the ligaments, bones, and even the joints of the body that normally are not exercised very much in a more active style of asana practice.”

Asanas or yoga postures are held 3-5 minutes or longer in a Yin Practice.

My students held the postures for five minutes as Steven; our magnificent mantra song man-offered his devotion to source energy in the form of Bhakti.  Devotion.  We traveled through our 90-minute practice of meditation as one last Friday and it was quite a beautiful experience.

After our Friday night practice had come to an end, Steven, Joe (my love) and I found ourselves  in the beautiful room at the Temple filled with the deities.

“The Temple is dedicated to Lord Krishna and His Consort Radha.

The main alter [is] also be Graced by Lord Shiva and The Devine Mother, Jagad-Amba.”

Ever engaged in your practice with LIVE MUSIC?!  I highly recommend doing this in the very very near future.   Feed your soul.
